Planning Your Website

A good plan is essential to creating a successful website. Your website plan should include:

    • What do your want to accomplish with your site? Sell products on line? Direct people to your business location? Distribute/Publish information?
  • Long and Short Term Goals
    • Define your goals to be met in 6 months, 12 months, years.
  • How will you measure the success of your site?
    • Decide up front how you will measure success. Will it be a percentage increase in sales? Number of visitors to your site? Number of online orders?
    • Be specific in establishing your success measurements.
  • Who will maintain and update the content or products?
    • This is an important consideration. Too often this job is assigned to an employee who may not have the skills, knowledge, or motivation to handle the task.
  • What is your budget for website promotion?
    • Until your site is found in the search engines (which could be months) are you willing to promote your site by paying for advertising or pay-per-click listings?
